How to Save Money on a Golf Vacation

Going on vacation can quite a bit of money, and golf vacations tend to be particularly expensive. Yes, a vacation is essential for health and relaxation, but it's not very relaxing if you think you are going to be broke afterwards!

Here are some ideas for saving money on your next golf vacation:
  • Take advantage of discount golf tours:

Many people think golf vacations are only for rich people and businessmen who can afford to pay expensive membership fees. However discount golf tours are available if you look around, and at much cheaper prices than traditional regular golf tours. You might be able to find one that goes somewhere exotic, including places like Australia, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, the UK, or even China.

  • Search the web:

It's often said that Internet prices are lower than offline prices, and in the case of golf vacation packages, that is often the case. You might find a better deal online than by simply asking your travel agent. Look out especially for special offers and last minute deals.

  • Choose a nearer destination:

Short-haul flights are generally cheaper than long-distance flights. Road and rail trips are often cheaper than flying. And as simply getting to your destination (and back) is likely to be a major part of the expense of going on a vacation, simply choosing a near destination can save a lot of money.

  • Book flights early:

Airline websites often offer cheaper prices if you book a long time in advance. So, although you may need to balance this against other costs (last minute resort bookings are on the other hand often cheaper than ones booked a long time in advance), you might save money this way.

Likewise, round-trips are generally the cheapest way to travel. That said, you should also be on the look-out for any special promotions that airlines or travel agencies are running.

  • Plan ahead:

Buying things at home and taking them with you, is often cheaper than buying things at the resort where prices may be higher than your local stores. So make a checklist of the things that you are likely to need, and you may be able to save money that way.

  • Save money while on vacation

Obviously you can save money while on vacation by choosing a cheaper hotel/resort, not dining in a fancy restaurant everyday, etc. You might be surprised at how much money you can save this way.
In summary, there's a lot of ways that you can save money and still have a great golf vacation. A little bit of planning while more than pay for itself, and if you are also careful about how you spend money while on vacation, you might be amazed at just how much money you can save.
